Lent Day 20

Bob Burk

Scripture: Psalm 121:6

6 the sun will not harm you by day,

    nor the moon by night.

Today's Meditation:

When I was an elementary student in Sunday School, our pastor presented a bible to each student. He read a scripture before handing the bible to the student. He read Psalm 121 to me and I thought that meant I was to go to the mountains to receive my help for growing up. As I read my Bible, prayed, and attended Bible studies, I learned that it is not a “place” where peace and salvation are obtained but from a “person,” Jesus Christ. As the Israelites were on their pilgrimage to Jerusalem for the Feasts, they sang or recited the Psalms of Ascent. Their travels could be treacherous and difficult, but they were sustained by the verse, “The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon at night”. As we travel through the difficulties and troubles of life, we also look to this scripture for the assurance that God keeps watch over us now and forever.

Prayer:

Thank you, God, that through Jesus Christ our Lord, You are always in constant watch over me and care for me. Amen
