Do you love children and teaching them about Jesus? Do you like to help families grow in their faith, and support and encourage them through the ups and downs of life? We would love to have you partner with our church family to help grow our children's ministry program. This position is part-time, 16-20 hours per week which includes Sunday mornings weekly. Additional hours may be added as needed.

Purpose

To instruct and nurture children ages birth through 5th grade and their families in their Christian faith. To equip our church family in supporting the growth of children and their families toward lifelong Christian discipleship.

Qualifications

  • Growing relationship with Jesus Christ

  • Obvious love for children and their families

  • Teachable, servant’s heart with teamwork mentality

  • Gifted in Administration, leadership, and teaching

  • Communication skills including oral, written, electronic and social media

  • Ability to recruit, teach, train and motivate volunteers in ministry with children

  • Education and/or experience in children and family Christian ministries

  • Shares the vision, philosophy of ministry, and commitments of FPC

  • Current CPR and First Aid Training or be willing to obtain it and keep it up to date

Responsibilities

Be in relationship with children, their parents, and their families

  • Plan curriculum and activities for children’s ministry such as Sunday children’s church, Sunday school, and mid-week programs

  • Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers for children's ministries

  • Oversee nursery, making sure that it is properly staffed and safely equipped

  • Help develop a Family Ministry that seeks to support, resource, and strengthen families

  • Meet regularly with supervising Pastor, communicate with Session, and attend staff meetings

  • Effectively utilize communication networks to share information with parents, the congregation, and other ministry groups

  • Collaborate with other church ministries to encourage multi-generational fellowship

  • Attend worship services regularly

  • Work with Admin team to ensure that ministry workers are compliant with FPC Child Safety Policy

  • Maintain attendance and contact information database

  • Recommend and oversee annual budget

  • Participate in approved professional training and continuing education

Accountability

  • Relates to the Pastor as Head of Staff

  • Maintains a close supportive relationship with the Children’s Ministry Team

  • Relates to church staff and church members

  • Relates to persons and groups within our church such as Sonshine Patch, Mothers of Preschoolers, and Community Bible Study
